Electric Wine Chiller
Having an electric wine chiller is as necessary as having the wine itself. The two instinctively go together and once you experience using one you will never want to be caught without it. With so many different varieties and designs on the market, its hard to determine which is the best fit for you. This is a brief description of this product and a little in-depth analogy of what they entail and what to look for when purchasing.
First of all, you need to know that there are two different kinds of coolers: non-electric and electric. Making this first choice will determine how you finalize your decisions from here.
The non-electric varieties are the ones that you see in fine hotels, on cruise ship in the formal dining areas and in the TV movies. This can be anything from a decorative canister that cools a bottle of champagne in honor of a special event, to an ice bucket that someone fills with ice and slides the bottle into. No matter what type you choose they can all accomplish the same feat, with some variation.
Unfortunately, these models are not time sensitive, so if you are looking for a quick fix- this isn’t it. Plus, another problem may be that the bottle will sometimes cool unevenly or to an inappropriate level for the brand. Some varieties require a precise temperature for the highest refinement of taste. These typically do not accomplish that to the fullest extent.
An electric model can take all of the guesswork out of the situation. There are many ways that this can be done. First, most models come with the major varieties programmed into the unit. There can be as many as 70 varieties. All you have to do is choose your selection and check the pre-programmed setting. The unit will bring the bottle to the optimum temperature for that variety and maintain it until it is turned off.
Another feature of these models is that you can choose how many bottles you want to keep available in stock. There are some models that can accommodate four to six bottles all the way up to approximately seventy bottles at once. Of course, you will need to decide what your level of entertaining, or just general consumption is to determine which unit is best for your needs. You don’t want to pick a large unit if you only occasionally indulge or this would be a waste of space, money and electricity.
If you only a once-in-a-while drinker then you could even go with a single bottle unit. As it’s name implies, it will maintain one bottle at a time. Some can expedite the process from room temperature to optimum temperature in only a few minutes. Then there is the dual version, and the storage capacity goes up from there.
For those who have used an electric wine chiller there generally seems to be no going back to the old version. Why not partake of technology?
